02 Welcome to the Pentad!

Forward, into the past... [hat tip to fst]

Ready to meet PJR's "squaddies"?...

Below, please find this author's compound graphic depicting ABSAprime's current (note that word: things around here tend to change precipitouslyconceptionalization of the members of her Pentad, and below that, a table briefly summarizing their chief qualities, both biographical and astrological

In terms of time, ABSAprimsays, start with Nema, a child of indeterminate age, race, or sex, and indeed living at a time in the very distant past when these distinctions may have been largely unknown (though it's really hard to determine, she currently estimates Nema to live at about 30,000 years BC!); then proceed clockwise (or "deosil," if that's your thing!); next is the Roman Legionnaire Lucius from about 20BC.

then there is Cinq, the half-Moor teenager with what seems to be one of the worst jobs in the world; Iliza, the 15th century russian witch/wise woman/midwife; finishing up with the nonpareil "Auntie" M., our chief Mentor in horary astrology (both ABSAprime's and mine; see also ABSAdomain10) and who appears in my meditations as a shadow companion to my own personality [and I'm not even going to attempt to explain that, at least not at this point!]).

Herewith, then, the members of ABSAprime's pentad. Illustrations (excepting for Ms. Goldstein-Jacobson) were constructed according to directions given to ChatGTP.

Pentad Member 1: Lucius

[1] LUCIUS, Legionnaire, Caesar’s XIIIth (?) Legion. ~30BC. In naming her “pentaders” ABSAprimsometimes assigned names that she got from favorite movies or tv shows. Lucius she named after the Kevin McKidd character Lucius Vorenus from an early HBO series, Rome. In the meditative state [see "chanting the Lotus Sutra, ABSAdomain02] she's "85% sure" 😊 (btw, if you're wondering about this smiley-face emoji, once you've been with with us for a while, you will grok why the implied precision in that figure is so hilarious!) that she can barely sense that (her) Lucius is a legionnaire (if not a legionnaire, she strongly feels he is a warrior).

ABSApentadLuciusGlow_edited.png

However, even if a specific Legion is unknown, since the fictional Lucius (wait, why are we assuming it’s that depiction that’s “fictional”?…hmm) rose (eventually) to the rank of Evocati in the famed thirteenth legion, ABSAprime is proposing that we bestow that honor on "her" Lucius, even though, candidly, she confides that he's not nearly as virtuous as the "fictional" Lucius!

Lucius

All ABSAprime's pentaders are specialists (actually, all people are "specialists," specialists in the eternal validity of their own soul [and this obviously is another ABSAgram in the notional stage, so stay tuned]), but true to the revelations  of ABSApundit concerning the multiplicity of identities, they also are proficient in other, often seemingly contradictory areas of achievement. As it happens, her images of Lucius include indications he was involved in some financial matters, certain of these of a very shady nature.

Given this setup, then, what do we immediately see in the horary chart but that the planet Pluto, natural ruler of the eighth house, is the most recent contact (within a single time unit "ago" [which can be a minute, an hour, a day, a month, a year, depending on configurations in the chart--and trust us, this is one of the most difficult of horary results to affirm]) previous to the chart’s casting? That clicks with both ABSAprimand this writer, since one of the most common interpretations of the eighth house and its ruler Pluto (and Mars, in the old view!) is other people's resources

Whatever the Pentad Lucius is into (ABSAprimthinks it has to do with textiles or clothing), she senses that his position as (possibly) Legionnaire, often going abroad, has enabled him to contact a wide variety of people and cultures, and has thereby helped him profit from what others might see as deprivation and cruelty. Another indication of the state of tension indicated by this aspect is the nature of the aspect just made by the Moon: it is a quincunx, also called an “inconjunct,” reason being that two planets in quincunx share absolutely nothing. To clarify this, let’s again refer to the natal chart of this writer's own chart.

As noted, the inconjunct aspect (quincunx, 150 degrees) in my natal chart (not ABSAprime's chart, mine) is between my Sun (in Libra, second house) and my Moon (in Pisces, seventh house) and that’s an aspect that more traditional astrologers might say causes trouble

Why? Because, between the two indicators, nothing matches: Libra is a cardinal sign (the cardinals start things), Pisces is a mutable sign (mutables distribute things); the Sun is in a succedent house (hidden), Moon in an angular house (the open); Sun is in an air sign, Moon in a water sign; and so on. Since the two bodies involved, the Sun and Moon, are literally the most important in any chart (Sun = basic identity, Moon = daily performance of that identity), a superficial analysis might conclude that my real self (Sun) and my socially projected self (Moon) are incompatible and thereby an impediment.

In my case, it’s that this not a permanent impediment, but a mismatch which turns into inspiration and the inculcation of drive to complete whatever I’m involved with. So this "incompatibility" comprises a kind of irritant, a stimulant that makes this project—this ABSApundit--almost inevitable. That’s going to be pretty much the theme throughout our website. It’s not entirely what hand you’re dealt, it’s also how you play it. We’re not saying that everything pointed out by the chart can be turned to one’s advantage (an obvious absurdity), but a lot of it can, and you can view some of the results at ABSAdomain12, The Natal Chart as Personal Mandala.

Pentad Member 2: Iliza

[2] ILIZA, wise woman/witch/midwife (?), c. 1570, Russia. The instantiation of the second pentader is noted by something that (in the horary chart) occurred roughly four time-units prior to the chart’s casting (that is, three units before the manifestation of Lucius).

The planet involved is Saturn, which governs karma and fate: it is in the ninth house. This also seems to fit my images, as Saturn is the planet of aging; the idea of a crone dispensing beneficial wisdom is perfect, since the aspect is the lucky, beneficial, good fortune trine and the house is the ninth, which has to do with religion, philosophy, and in general anything that involves the higher mind. ABSAprimnamed this entity Iliza, after one of her favorite comedians, the peerless Iliza Schlesinger. One of Iliza's recurring characters is a “witchy-woman,” who part-times as a pharmacist and wields the deadly "grabbing hand"...and it's even funnier than you think it might be.

Pentad Member 3: Nema

[3] NEMA, the mystery child, ~ 30,000 years ago. This next youngster is a real poser. A square to Neptune signals the appearance of a child who is of a race and gender neither ABSAprime nor I can determine. Nor can either of us sense any verbal or interactional intelligence. ABSAprime has named this child “Nema,” her feminization of “Nemo,” Greek for “no one," and yes, it's the same name used by Odysseus to outwit the Cyclops).

ABSApentadNemaGlow.png

"Nema"

Her images of this person seem based almost entirely on survival in unbelievably harsh conditions; she complains that she gets very few images (at least that she remembers) reflecting what you might call “civilization.” That the aspect is a stressful square, and involves Neptune (the planet of deception), tells us that her conclusions (and mine) may be entirely mistaken. Our best guess is that Nema lived about 30,000 years ago, perhaps at a time when the ideas behind gender-related differentiation and race had yet to be developed as human social traits (Note: a similarly disposed entity is part of the Pentad from The Education of Oversoul Seven.)

This was brought to my attention dramatically when a friend, looking over ABSAprime's explanation, came out with this little gem: “What makes you think Nema is on Earth?” Talk about an eye-opener! Incredibly, I was blown away: I had no real answer, and for once 😊, neither did ABSAprime. In the midst of talking about the universe, we'd gone with the truly unforgivable assumption that everything is to be seen from an Earth-bound, geocentric perspective (though much of that is due to the methodological parameters of Astrology). Obviously, that belief cannot be sustained, so the matter makes a really great target to be discussed by our  ABSApundit community. We will definitely take this up again later

Pentad Member 4: "Auntie" M.

[4] "Auntie" M. [not her actual name, of course!], Master Astrologer, 20th Century. [Commenting on "Auntie's" name and initial, it is probably unnecessary to point out that ABSAprime really likes The Wizard of Oz !] In this case we use a bit of license (oh, please, who am I kidding—we’re all about crediting “license” as an excuse to make cutting edge moves!) to modify the fourth member of the pentad, whose manifestation is signified by a trine to the Sun in the ninth house of the higher mind

The Sun of course is central to the chart (any chart, really) and in recognition of this fact ABSAprime is envisioning this as a dyad (triad?), a fusion between ABSAprime (remember that ABSAprime is the--okay, okay, twist my arm, I'll say it, she's the "prime mover," happy?--behind ABSApundit.com, and your current author remains her never-to-be-humble editorial assistant (she gives me more than enough leeway, and candidly, how could we expect anything else?), so it's more a fusion of my personahers (?); and "Auntie," the other "half," thus recruiting a principal mentor, the superlative astrologer "Auntie M."

I do not know why we took this path, but again let me turn to our default explanation: we’re not in Kansas anymore! Thus, after laying down the pentad, I am completely at liberty to define the five “nodes” (to coin a term) as they relate to ABSAprime's crew. The old rules don't apply, so we've got to get some new ones. Because of this problems, we decided to not provide Auntie M.'s real name and have blurred her photo.

ABSApentadIvyGlow_edited_edited_edited_e

Of course, since we’re always talking about fusion, the notion that I (and, by extension, ABSAprime), share a pentad node with the chief influencer we share in common is hardly surprising. Actually, given this orientation, it is possible that such an assumption could be made about any of the other Pentaders, with speculative links between ABSAprime and, say, the shadowy Nema, who could easily be seen as the natural “dark self” of her persona which ABSAprime (she informs me) knows only too well, the one associated with her Framework One.

"AuntieM.

In any case, as always, the proof is in the living: we’ll observe what happens when we intertwine this node with others, and with alternative systems of knowledge--"grids," as Wilson refers to them--as well. At all times, we remain fully prepared to jettison any and all assumptions in the face of empirically derived evidence from Framework One.

Pentad Member 5: "Cinq"

[5] Cinq ["Fifth]," the "cursed teen." France, c. 1750. The situation faced by this final Pentader is one of the most interesting, yet appalling: a young boy, seemingly about 15 years old, descended principally from Moorish stock, someone sensed only by the designation “Cinq,” French for “the fifth." No idea how he got that nickname. Cinq appears to have a terrible, revolting job: he is the assistant (a “gofer”) to executioners and is not only a social outcast, but actively hated because of the violent world he lives in, and, because he is of Moorish descent, i.e., a person of color. All these traits are confirmed by the placement of Mars-the-aggressor (Mars rules edged weapons, such as the Headsman's Axe) in the twelfth house of isolation, punishment, incarceration, and execution

"Cinq"

So, that is the lineup. Of course, do realize that this is only one approach to defining these other worlds, and let it be said again, these results from this (apparently) inaugural attempt, not just for this application, but probably ever in the entire world, and as such must be regarded as tentative, with a capital “T.”
